This piece explores the embedding of mark-making in and on metal. Taking the rhythm and dynamic captured in her paintings as the impetus, the metal becomes a canvas to create tiny wearable paintings.

Sarah employs the poetry and symbolism of Kintsugi or 'golden repair'. Rooted in the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, Kintsugi appreciates the beauty of imperfection and transience and has become a metaphor for resilience, healing, and embracing one's history. The marks on this piece are visible all the way through rather than laid on top - a drawing created by bringing the broken parts together.

About Sarah Warsop

Sarah is a jeweller, painter and mark-maker. She danced professionally for over 25 years before completing an MA at St Martins in Jewellery. She now works on capturing movement and music in metal and on paper. Sarah has shown her drawings, paintings and jewellery in gallery exhibitions and fairs, and her work has been supported by Arts Council England.
