Sarah Warsop

As a dancer, Sarah Warsop toured and performed for many years with Rambert Dance Company and Siobhan Davies Dance. In 2000, she began jewellery evening classes, running from the dance studio to the workshop once a week. After seven years of this, she realised she wanted to know more and enrolled on an MA course at Central St Martins. It was here that Sarah's fascination with transforming dance and later music and sound began, exploring how to hold the essence of movement inside precious metal and onto paper.

The transitory and fleeting nature of dance and music is both its beauty and frustration. Sarah had spent many years walking into an empty studio, spending hours re-finding what she was doing the day before. The desire was to continue working on an object outside of the physical body, holding all her thoughts and ideas. This fascination continues today.

Sarah chooses specific pieces of music from composers and musicians and work to contain the vitality and memory in her paintings and sculptural jewellery.
