'Shadow Self' marks the beginning of Jasmine Bradbury's exploration into Carl Jung’s theory of the 'shadow self'. Jung stated, 'Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.'
This piece is a literal shadow, permanently cast as a silhouette of the artist's own body. Originally sculpted in plaster, it was hand-carved, sanded and polished before being moulded and cast in cold cast Iron.
