This vessel is inspired by Samhain, the Celtic turning point when one year closes and another begins. As the natural world slows and the days shorten, I feel the boundary between the visible and invisible soften, inviting reflection and a deeper sense of connection with the land. Samhain honours falling leaves, bare trees and the final harvest, gestures that speak to endings that are both necessary and full of potential. I shaped this piece with tatami paper yarn over a mould, colouring the structure with botanical inks before strengthening it with Japanese paper starch. I then interlaced natural textile yarns including wool and mohair, to bring softness and texture, allowing the vessel to hold the quiet mood of the season and the sense of renewal that follows rest.
