Samhain Group VII

This trio of vessels is inspired by Samhain, the Celtic turning point when one year closes and another begins. As the natural world slows and the days shorten, I feel the boundary between the visible and invisible soften, inviting reflection and a deeper sense of connection with the land. Samhain honours falling leaves, bare trees and the final harvest, gestures that speak to endings that are both necessary and full of potential. Each vessel is shaped with tatami paper yarn over a mould, coloured with botanical inks and strengthened with Japanese paper starch. I then interlace natural textile yarns including wool, mohair, silk and linen, using intuitive techniques such as random weaving, knotting, wrapping and twining. Together, the three forms hold the quiet mood of the season, offering a meditation on rest, renewal and the gentle transformation that follows release.
