Exploration of the Porcelain Canvas - Black Brush (Gloss)

Using the approach of an expressive, visceral painter, Helen blends and creates a palette of ceramic materials - to brush or find new ways to capture the energy employed through the physical process. Adding layers and sometimes re-firing a piece to play with surface tonality - a subtle sheen, a bright colour accent, a texture to catch the light. Porcelain has an inherent luminosity and will change with natural or a specific light source.   

The project 'Exploration of the Porcelain Canvas' allows her to work on wall art and objects. In fact, the 3D form requires quite unexpected considerations - spontaneity and poise in the same moment; manipulation of the flat and into a shape.
