This set of pots have been made using clay sourced from a construction site. In the UK, it is estimated that thousands of tonnes of clay dug up during construction projects is sent to landfill. These pots have been created using this so-called waste material. The glaze is also composed of waste materials, including fireplace ash, construction site clay, and glass shards, all collected during the ceramicist, Neve Beill’s travels.
The set aims to show how waste can be reduced within a ceramics context. The forms have been influenced by traditional Roman Pottery, whilst the dark contrast of a matt finish with vibrant green drips was inspired by a walk through Box Hill, where dark wooded areas have been taken over by moss running up the trees.
