Collection: Yumo Yuan

Yumo is a London-based textile artist originally from northeast China. He graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Textile Design in 2023 and is currently based at Cockpit Studios, sponsored by The Clothworkers’ Company.  His weaving practice is inspired by 18th-century warp print techniques. Instead of printing, he hand-paints patterns onto the silk warp before weaving the weft threads. To creating a soft, blurred effect. His work is deeply influenced by antique Chinese folk textiles and objects he sources from flea markets. Through weaving, he explores ways to bring traditional craftsmanship, symbolism, and storytelling into contemporary textile fields.
