This piece is part of a three pieces series ‘Metanoia’, which was made using locally sourced glaze materials from Shigaraki, Japan. Rubbles of stone were fired to glaze firing temperature and fused together using glass casting technique.

During a residency in Japan, Ho focused on experimenting with locally sourced glaze material and create forms by referencing glass casting technique. The series of work is not only a manifestation of materiality but also personal sentiments when living and working in Shigaraki Japan.

Ho Lai is a ceramic artist from Hong Kong. Her work explores the contemporary nature of ceramics, experimenting with the materials and processes involved in its creation. The interrogation of an idea, colour combinations and material experimentation are prominent in her practice.
