Studio Bartheidel

Melanie Bartheidel’s practice brings together her background in making, architecture, and graphic design. Her work explores the creative overlap between art, design, and craft. Inspired by digital aesthetics, she translates abstract digital designs into physical pieces, using techniques such as embroidery, print, and drawing to create tactile and engaging works.

Her recent print series, 'The Colours of M', looks at how colours relate to memory. Each piece is a unique, personalised print that challenges traditional printmaking, which is usually based on creating multiples. In addition to these one-offs, the series includes small editions of 10 that extend the exploration of memory and colour.

In 2024, Melanie’s work was selected for the ING Discerning Eye exhibition. She currently works from her studio at Cockpit Bloomsbury, where she continues to explore the boundaries between the digital and physical, the visual and the tactile.
