Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, raised in New Zealand, Sarah Herriot returned to the UK in 1984. She acquired her bench skills from John Cass at UCL, and her 3D CAD skills from Jack Meyer. She continues to expand her knowledge base and technical virtuosity from her workshop in Cockpit Bloomsbury, a stones’ throw from the Hatton Garden jewellery quarter.

In combination with traditional hand-making skills, she uses 3D CAD extensively in her work. Having worked until 2005 as a commercial computer software designer, it comes naturally to her. This technique has allowed her to develop her unique and cohesive style, attracting high praise and awards for the architectural and sculptural quality of the designs.  

Sarah’s intention is to create intelligent designs that bring aesthetic pleasure, as jewellery, and as objects in their own right. She draws inspiration from the urban environment, adding her own organic interpretation. Engineering and problem solving play their part in her designs and her solutions are as much part of each piece as the design itself.
