Petra Bishai

Petra Bishai’s work is defined by a linear style and pared-down forms.  Her collections explore the paradox of belonging versus alienation and how we adapt and interact with our surroundings.

In her latest collection, 'Home Taping is Killing Music', she uses the analogy of a mixed cassette tape to evoke her own musical memories and take you through a personal sound journey. This body of work considers how much of our identity is tied up with the music that we tune in to; the visual memories and the awareness that are evoked on hearing certain sounds and songs; the reaction that certain music elicits in us all.
