Myrna Mitchell

Myrna Mitchell is a London-based ceramic artist whose work explores the quiet weight of human connection and the narratives that unfold in between. Drawing on storytelling traditions, ritual forms, and the expressive potential of the human figure, her hand-built sculptures occupy a space that feels both ancient and contemporary.

Working across pots, organic forms and figurative sculpture, Myrna consistently returns to the human body as a site of memory, presence, and meaning. Using age-old hand-building techniques, she works slowly and intuitively, allowing time, touch and repetition to shape each piece. This process-led approach enables her to bridge ancient ceramic practices with contemporary concerns, resulting in work that feels timeless yet grounded in lived experience.

After twenty years living and working in the United Arab Emirates, Myrna returned to the UK and settled in Somerset. There, she completed a degree in Creative Arts Practice, where she began to fully explore clay as a primary means of expression. Upon graduating, she was awarded the Creative Arts Practice Outstanding Achievement Award (2022). Her work has since been selected for major exhibitions, including the John Ruskin Prize Exhibition (2025) in London and the British Ceramics Biennial (Fresh Artist 2025) in Stoke-on-Trent.
